Your guests’ first experience with your wedding is your wedding invitations. One of our personal favorite wedding invitation embellishments is an envelope liner. Envelope liners are paper inserts that fit the shape of your envelope and usually contain an illustration or art. When guests open the envelope, they are immediately presented with this statement piece before even pulling out the invitation. 

Envelope liners are such a simple, chic way to elevate your wedding invitations. The design options are endless – from simple marble patterns to watercolor floral art, you can find something to match every wedding aesthetic. As a bonus, these are a generally affordable addition to your stationery and rarely affect the weight and shipping of the invitation. 

Belly Bands

If your wedding invitation suite has several pieces, you may want something to hold them together and keep them neat. One way to do this is with a belly band. A belly band is a small strip of either vellum or paper that wraps around your stationery suite. These can be clear, solid color, or patterned, depending on your preferred style. 

In addition to being a functional piece, belly bands also add a look of sophistication to your invitations. You can even upgrade them further by opting to seal them with a wax seal. The belly band is a classic wedding invitation add-on that has stood the test of time and can elevate any stationery suite. 

Vellum Wraps

Another way to keep your wedding stationery pieces organized is by using a vellum wrap. A vellum wrap, or jacket, is a trifold piece of vellum that fully encapsulates your stationery suite. Similar to a belly band, you can find these in many different colors and designs. However, while a belly band can be sealed with just glue, a vellum wrap does not overlap and, therefore, requires either a ribbon or wax seal to hold it closed. 

Vellum wraps are truly a luxury embellishment, and we love the guest experience they provide. They make your wedding invitation feel like a present, especially when tied with a bow. One thing to keep in mind, however, is that the addition of the bow or wax seal can affect the weight and bulk of your invitation, so it’s best to check with your post office for specific pricing and hand-canceling before you send them out. 

Double Envelopes 

If you’re planning a black-tie wedding, you’ll want to include double envelopes in your wedding invitations. This is as simple as it sounds – the primary envelope on the outside will contain your guests’ addresses and a stamp, while the inside envelope will remain crisp and clean. This protects your inside envelope from any damage that may occur during shipment and allows guests to experience the envelope without needing to rip it open.

Additionally, when using double envelopes, the inner envelope will be printed with the full names of those invited. This is a classic and no-fuss way to clarify if children or some household members aren’t invited. 

Wax Seals 

Wax Seals have become incredibly popular in the wedding industry, and it’s easy to see why. They add a beautiful vintage touch and texture to what may otherwise be a flat stationery suite.
